Pharmacogenomics and Pharmacogenetics

Introduction
Pharmacogenomics and Pharmacogenetics is the study of how genes affect a person’s response to drugs. Patients may fail to respond to medication because of excessive medication or lack of appropriate drug transporters or receptors.
This discipline examines the inherited variations in genes that dictate drug response and explores the ways these variations can be used to predict whether a patient will have an optimal response to a drug.
